With its leafy avenues and its proximity to Central London, Maida Vale has been an affluent and coveted place to live since the 19th century. Now it is home to red brick town houses, smart restaurants, cafes and delis not to mention hundreds of wealthy families, professionals and celebrities. Located next to the Grand Union Canal, Maida Vale incorporates the charming area of Little Venice, so called because its impressive properties sit at the point where the Grand Union Canal meets the Regent’s Canal. But not everyone opts to enjoy this tranquil waterway by living in a multi-million pound townhouse. Those with smaller budgets, and living space requirements, choose to live on one of the many painted house boats that decorate the edges of the water.
